Unit of oxygen equipment “POISK” was primarily designed as a preventive measure from hypoxia. It provides compensation for a deficiency in oxygen feeding for anyone, who found himself under conditions of partial pressure of oxygen.

The main purpose of this device is to protect a human from hypoxia in the high altitude environment during search-&-rescue parties & ascents at the elevation up to 9000 meters ASL as well as in minor aircrafts (at the elevation over 4000), balloons, moto hang-gliders and parashuting at the height of 10 000 metres (for specific assign).

The first 3-liter cylinders were made of the NGO "POISK" in 1992. The cylinder consisted of a thin-walled welded stainless steel liner and organic-plastic shell. Later in the construction of the cylinder had been some change of form and method of welding, and optimized the process of winding the shell. Currently, containers are manufactured according to TU 1411-001-03455343-2002.
